The Sun

Just as we need the light from the sun for our physical bodies, so we also need the light from the Son, the Son of God for our spirits.  Without a daily dose of sun, over time, we become depressed.  Interacting with the Son gives us energy, strength, confidence, and happiness.  It makes our days brighter and more exciting.  :)

What are your thoughts?

Pencil

Wow!  Just typing this in the title line made me think of so many analogies!
Okay, if we are attached to the Savior, when we 'write' a wrong, the Savior's Atonement, can 'erase' what we did.
Non-mechanical pencils need to be sharpened. There is graphite inside the pencil but in order for it to be of use, it must be sharpened.  So it is with faith and any other Christlike attribute.  We may have it inside of us, but unless we sharpen or involve a sudden or abrupt change in direction or course (as defined by dictionary.com) it will remain forever in us, but not being utilized.  To get the graphite out and to be of use it must, in some degree, be cut and forced out.  If we do not use faith, or charity, or love, or knowledge, etc. it will remain forever inside and we will not be able to be an instrument in God's Hands.

Speakers

Speakers produce sound, usually from another source.  There is volume control.  God may speak to us, but if we don't have our speakers on or connected or turn up the volume, even though God is still talking, we will not be able to hear.  Maybe the speakers are like the prophets!  Yes!  They are not the source of the sound, but through them we hear the sound. Just as God speaks through His prophets.  We hear the Lord's words through the prophets, though it does not originally come from them.  Oh yeah!

Socks

Socks keep our feet warm and protected.  We put on our socks before we put on our shoes.  Socks are right next to our skin.  In the Bible, Paul tells us to shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.  Actually, upon greater pondering on this correlation, I have discovered that the sock has many parallels to the gospel.

Socks are right next to our skin - we can feel they are there.  Just as the Spirit of God should be close to us in our lives, so that we can feel it right next to us, right where our feet walk, so that the Spirit can influence where we go.

We put on our socks before we put on our shoes - this reminds me of a testimony.  We first must have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ before we can act in His name.  (Before we put on our shoes to go.)

Next time you put on your socks, what will you be thinking?  :)
